Welcome to Tri DNA! I’m excited to launch the newest race event management and training company in the Greater Sacramento region. It has been a life changing few years and an even more life changing past year getting to this point. My initial start with triathlon was in 2005 with Team in Training Sacramento as a student at UC Davis. I remember how accepting my teammates were and how they taught me so much about the sport. TNT inspired me to not be afraid to take risks and helped me to believe that anything is possible. Since that time, much has happened. I joined the UC Davis triathlon team, completed a few half ironman distances and even a full ironman. Though I get a thrill from racing and enjoy being a “social racer,” I have decided to focus on my true love – race directing. I recently finished my certification as a USAT Race Director and hope to get my coaching certification in the winter. When I’m not organizing or racing triathlons, I am a supervisor and certified ski instructor at Northstar at Tahoe in Truckee, California. You’ll find me there in the winter doing altitude and base training as well as working at the resort. I am truly excited for the 2009 season and hope to see you at our many new race venues!
My name is Magda Besser and I am the Director of Marketing and Sponsorship for Tri DNA. I’m currently an undergraduate student at the University of California Davis, majoring in Managerial Economics. Inspired by my sister’s fierce competitions in triathlons I began my own triathlon career two years ago. The UC Davis Sprint Triathlon was my first competitive race, and I’ve been hooked ever since. For me, triathlons are a new area of athletics, which I have never experienced. I’ve been an athlete my whole life, competing in track meets, swim meets, soccer and volleyball games. This new field of multisport, however, has been a challenge for me because my background is focused on sprints as opposed to long distance. I’ve been watching myself grow into this new field of multisport and I’m enjoying every minute! I plan to improve my performance and continue my training for many years after I leave the University. As a managerial economics major I am quickly being trained in business and finance. This field is really exciting for me and Tri DNA is a perfect place to utilize my skills. I take the same pride in my work as I do in my training. With my strong work ethic, I plan on helping the company grow to its full potential. Tri DNA has formulated a strong team and I’m excited to be a part of this new company!
Hello! My name is Rebecca Kwong and I’m a third year undergrad at UC Davis studying exercise biology and nutrition. I grew up swimming almost my entire life. I learned how to swim when I was 8 and joined a year round team at age 10. I didn't really know what I was doing then, but I eventually learned to love the sport. I swam all through high school, but by senior year I was kind of burnt out. So, I decided to see what triathlons were all about. My older brother introduced me to the sport of triathlons. He inspired me to give this new sport a try when he completed his first Olympic triathlon through an organization called Team in Training. In the summer of 2006, I decided to join TNT and finished my first triathlon, the Triathlon at Pacific Grove. The whole experience was incredible, so much so that I’ve been hooked ever since. Being part of the triathlon community is truly amazing. Currently, I am the president of the UC Davis Triathlon Team and a mentor for Team in Training. Last year, I also had the opportunity to help run the UCD Sprint Triathlon as an assistant race director. I gained a lot of valuable knowledge working with all the staff and volunteers and saw firsthand how a triathlon race is put on. I hope to acquire more knowledge about event management through TRi DNA as the race services manager. I’m excited for what’s to come in the future and to work with all the staff and racers in the TRi DNA multisport family!
